Meetings:

9th November 2013 In line with decisions taken in the Panthic meeting of 20th October 2013, Sikh Council UK organised a meeting of Federation of Sikh Organisations (FSO). This meeting took place at Guru Nanak Parkash Gurdwara Sahib, Harnal Lane, Coventry. Prior to the meeting, Sikh Council UK developed a list of organisations, invited 2 representatives from each and made arrangements accordingly for the meeting. At the meeting Sikh Council UK Secretary General welcomed those attending the meeting and then handed over facilitation back to FSO.

On this positive note Sikh Council UK was able to take leave from the meeting having completed its task as requested by the Panthic meeting. Representatives of Sikh Council UK attended Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurpurab celebrations at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, City Hospital and Sandwell Hospital.

Consultation Responses:

On 9th November 2013 a representative of the Sikh Council UK participated in consultation workshops commissioned by the Equality and Human Rights Commission as part of the process to include caste as a category in the Equality Act 2010.

Following the Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 completing its journey through Parliament in July 2013, the Government has been working on the implementation of the Act.

The Sikh Council UK responded to two consultations being carried out. The Sikh Council UK responded to a consultation by The College of Policing who were developing a ‘Code of Ethics’ for policing in England and Wales. The Code will be the highestlevel declaration of the principles and standards of behaviour expected from all police officers and staff in all police forces within England and Wales.

Interfaith Work:

Representatives of the Sikh Council UK responded to a request to meet with pupils of a

specialist provision for boys with Behavioural Emotional and Social Difficulties aged 11-17 to talk about Sikhi and field any questions
